Today is officially August! We are over halfway through 2024, can you believe it? We’re always striving to be respectful and kind to others everyday, and we though it was time for a manners challenge! We hope you play along to see if you’re happy with how you’ve been behaving towards others in 2024 so far, and if there are new things you’d like to try for the rest of the year – and beyond! August 1st: Gratitude Kickoff
Start a gratitude journal today. Write down three things you're thankful for and why.
August 2nd: Authentic Compliments
Begin sending two genuine compliments to different people each day via email, phone, or in person.
August 3rd: Hold the Door
Make a point to hold the door open for others today. Smile and acknowledge them as they pass through.
August 4th: Share Local Pride
When asked about your hometown or current city, add an intriguing or beautiful fact about it.
August 5th: Mindful Communication
Focus on active listening today. Pause and fully engage in conversations without interrupting.
August 6th: Transit Courtesy
Let others exit before you enter elevators, buses, or trains today.
August 7th: Connect with Service Staff
Engage with service staff (waiters, cashiers, etc.) by asking about the best part of their day.
August 8th: Reconnect
Call someone you haven't spoken to in six months, just to say hello and catch up.
August 9th: Express Gratitude
Let someone know how grateful you are to have them in your life and why they matter to you.
August 10th: Random Act of Generosity
Pay it forward! Buy a coffee or tea for the person behind you in line today.
August 11th: Surprise Gesture
Send a surprise gift or flowers to someone special, simply to brighten their day.
August 12th: Spread the Movement
Share your experiences and acts of kindness on social media using a designated hashtag to inspire others.
August 13th: Write Thank-You Notes
Show appreciation for essential workers by writing heartfelt thank-you notes highlighting their invaluable contributions to our community
August 14th: Mindful Eating
Practice table manners during meals. Focus on sitting properly, using utensils correctly, and engaging in polite conversation.
August 15th: Empathetic Listening
Practice empathetic listening today. Pay attention to others' emotions and respond thoughtfully.
August 16th: Acknowledge Service Workers
Thank a service worker (postal worker, delivery person, etc.) today for their efforts.
August 17th: Elevator Etiquette
Hold the elevator door for others and greet them with a smile when they enter.
August 18th: Phone Etiquette
Practice polite phone etiquette. Use a pleasant tone and say "please" and "thank you" during phone conversations.
August 19th: Compliment with Specificity
When giving compliments today, be specific about what you admire or appreciate in the person.
August 20th: Generosity in Conversation
Engage in conversations by asking more about others and actively listening to their responses.
August 21st: Gift of Time
Dedicate quality time to someone important in your life without distractions from technology or other activities.

Acknowledge someone's hard work or effort and express appreciation for their dedication.

Practice courteous driving behaviors, such as using turn signals, allowing others to merge, and being patient in traffic.
